The Opportunity
The Consultant – Business Finance & Operations will support business units and central functions through financial planning, performance analysis, and operational finance support. The role focuses on budgeting, forecasting, project financials, reporting, and business insights to enable informed decision-making and efficient operations. This is a hands-on role requiring strong analytical skills and close collaboration with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Planning & Analysis
-- Support annual budgeting, monthly forecasting, and periodic financial planning activities.
-- Assist in tracking actuals vs. budget/forecast and perform variance analysis.
-- Prepare financial reports and dashboards for business and central finance teams.
-- Analyze cost structures, margins, and utilization trends to highlight risks and opportunities.
Performance Tracking & Reporting
-- Support P&L tracking for assigned business units or functions.
-- Monitor key KPIs such as utilization, realization, project profitability, service mix, and cost efficiency.
-- Prepare monthly and quarterly management reports with clear commentary and insights.
-- Maintain accurate financial data and reporting hygiene.
Business & Operations Support
-- Work closely with delivery, sales, and operations teams to support project execution from a financial perspective.
-- Track operational metrics including capacity planning, utilization, and delivery efficiency.
-- Support contract and commercial tracking from proposal stage through execution.
-- Assist in aligning resource planning with revenue and delivery plans.
Project & Client Financials
-- Track project-level financials including revenue recognition, billing, margins, WIP, and DSO.
-- Support project teams with financial inputs on pricing, cost tracking, and profitability analysis.
-- Identify potential revenue leakages and flag risks to relevant stakeholders.
-- Support time tracking and resource utilization analysis.
Cashflow & Working Capital
-- Monitor billing schedules, unbilled revenue, and receivables for assigned projects or accounts.
-- Coordinate with internal teams to support timely invoicing and collections.
-- Prepare working capital trackers and analysis for periodic reviews.
Financial Modeling & Ad-hoc Analysis
-- Build and maintain financial models for scenarios, business cases, and planning exercises.
-- Analyze revenue, cost, and profitability trends to support decision-making.
-- Provide ad-hoc financial analysis and data support as required.
Governance, Controls & Processes
-- Ensure adherence to internal finance policies, accounting guidelines, and control processes.
-- Support internal and external audit requirements by preparing data and documentation.
-- Assist in improving finance processes, reporting accuracy, and turnaround time.
Systems & Tools
-- Work with FP&A and ERP systems such as Oracle, NetSuite, Power BI, or similar tools.
-- Support automation, dashboarding, and data validation initiatives.
-- Maintain structured and reliable financial datasets.
Key Skills & Competencies
-- Strong understanding of FP&A, business finance, and performance metrics.
-- Good knowledge of professional services revenue models (T&M, fixed price, retainers).
-- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
-- Advanced Excel skills and working knowledge of financial models.
-- Ability to work with multiple stakeholders across finance, operations, and delivery.
-- High attention to detail, ownership, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications
-- CA / MBA (Finance) or equivalent qualification.
-- 3–6 years of experience in FP&A, business finance, or consulting finance roles.
-- Experience in consulting, professional services, IT services, or similar environments preferred.
